Assessments

As stated in the Utah State standard 2.OA.2 the module 1 sets the foundation for students to master sums and differences to 20. Students subsequently apply these skills to fluently add one-digit to two-digit numbers at least through 100 using place value understanding, properties of operations, and the relationship between addition and subtraction.

Regardless of the grade you are working with, IXL is a great tech tool to help students with their math.  In this case, we are working on 2nd grade math, adding and subtracting.  IXL offers over 300 skills for second grade math and more specifically many options for adding and subtracting single digits up to triple digits.  It offers different options in order to master this skill.  options like writing a number problem, number sentence, how to break apart numbers, finding multiples and using models to name a few.

Another tech tool that you can use to quickly assess students is Xtra Math.  This tool helps students to develop quick recall on their basic math facts. Repetition! Repetition! Repetition!

They offer quiz like options so that you can assess your students learning throughout the process.  You can monitor what the student is excelling in and what areas they may need more help or attention on.

Finally, another fun tech tool that can help with summative assessments of your students is Kahoot.  As a teacher, you can easily make a seris of questions.  The questions can be projected onto the classroom screen and the students then answer the questions from their desk using their own device.  doing this in the beginning and end of a lesson or unit can offer the data needed to optimize student learning.  Monitor students progress by comparing their first of unit test results with the end of unit test results.
